Walk and Talk Therapy
A Natural Environment, Talking Therapy and Walking
Move, Connect, Heal
The positive and therapeutic effects of a natural environment upon our mood and mental health are now widely recognised. There is now a wide body of research that supports the idea that time spent in `nature` can have a very positive effect on our mental health, physical health and our general wellbeing.
Most Doctors now recognise that Talking Therapy is often as beneficial as prescribed medication when a patient is experiencing depression and anxiety and Talking Therapy is often recommended alongside a conventional prescription.
Regular walking has been proven to have a wide range of positive effects upon both our physical and mental health. Walking places less strain on our joints than running or jogging but can produce similar positive results on our bodies, lowering the risk of developing a variety of health issues including heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type two diabetes and obesity and improving our overall fitness.
Walking/exercising with somebody else has been proven to enhance an individual’s motivation to incorporate regular exercise into their lifestyle.
